We were approached by an esteemed client with a property situated within a prime position in the exclusive setting of Gardiner’s Road. It’s situation along the street allows it to form an end-of-terrace property, which commands a presence westwards over the city and bay below, and  southwards towards the entrance approach of Gardiner’s Road and directly onto the street at road level.

The proposal aims to both extend the existing dwelling to accommodate the family’s changing needs and also improve their quality of life, which would alleviate the family from the burdensome spatial experience which this now 40+ year old property provides. By refurbishing the property and employing modern building methods and solutions such as thermal insulation on the building envelope, the introduction of efficient glazing, energy saving appliances and equipment etc, this residence will be given a new lease on life and saved from further deterioration which comes about by aging. A benefit from such a refurbishment and extension is that it will protect the property from potential demolition in the future, and reduces the environmental impact of reconstructing a new property. Allowing this prestige home to be preserved within the family and be passed down the generations; saving the history and legacy of this unique and pioneering hillside home which was designed and constructed in the 1970’s.
